Figurative Language Of Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars
has always been one of my favorite pop singer/songwriter. Now more than ever
but he does have some good oldies. The first song I have chosen is “Grenade” on
the album Doo-Wops
& Hooligans. Bruno sings,
“ Id throw
my head on a blade for ya “
The hyperbole
here is exaggerating about he things Bruno would do to prove his love to this
girl. I especially like this song because I can feel his emotional attachment through
his lyrics. The next song I have chosen is “Versace on the Floor” on the album 24K Magic exhibits alliteration. Bruno
sings,
“ ooh take
it off for me, for me, for me now, girl “
This line of
lyrics is alliteration alone but he repeats this same lie twice in a row. Alliteration
is the repeating of words or phrases and this would be a perfect example. Finally,
the last song but my favorite, “talking to the Moon” on the album Doo-Wops
& Hooligans Bruno sings,
“or am I a fool,
who sits alone, talking to the moon?”
Personification
is the form of figurative language that is being used in this song. Bruno his
humanizing the moon by saying ‘talking to the moon” because you can’t actually
talk to the moon and hold a conversation like is a human being. He expresses
that he is looking for this girl. Or even deeper the moon is between them and she’s
on the other side. He’s hoping she’s on the other side talking to him too, but
not really him, the moon.
Good song selection because bruno mars songs has alot of figurative lauguage. The song "Grenade" is a good song to do on hyperbole because he is bragging and exaggerating about love to his girl.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa you have done a good job explaining the lyrics as well as what type of figurative language that they are.
ReplyDeleteI agree Bruno Mars was a good choice in artist to use to show figurative language.
