Blog 8 Brooks or Graham ?

Who’s article will stick with me? Which will I remember forever? David Brooks or Barbra Graham? I would have to say Barbara Graham “Confessions of a Quit addict” even though David Brooks has quite a few good points in his article “It’s Not About You” like “Most successful young people don’t look inside and then plan a life. They look outside and find a problem which summons  their life”. And “The purpose in life is not to find yourself it’s to lose yourself” I feel like I would remember Barbara and what she went through every time I feel like quitting or giving up. Thinking of her story will motivate me to keep trying for myself and for the ones I love because if she could go from being homeless “We found ourselves living in a rusty old man on the outskirts of Rome” to a successful single mother with her essay published in a College textbook “So I did what any self respecting jobaholick would do I became a writer” It’s hard to change your life for the better especially if all you’...

Pros And Cons of My 2017 Fall Semester

My 2017 fall semester at Blinn could have went better but coming from a school that didn’t fully prepare me for the college life I think I have done pretty good. There could have definitely been more studying and less procrastination, I didn’t study a whole lot in high school I just did what I had to to get by that’s definitely not the case in college. To pass you need to study and study hard there isn’t any extra credit or make up work to do for lost grades you get what you get and that’s it. What did I love and what did I hate about this semester? Well a lot of things to be honest. A few things I loved were how two of my professors Mr. still in Mr. Duka were understanding and very helpful when I had trouble understanding something. Another aspect about this semester that I love was the knowledge that I acquired about not only the class but about how college works general, like attendance, due dates, and exams.   Things I hated, there’s quite a few unfortunately. I hate getti...

PEER REVISION

PEER REVISION  Details of Paddocks rampage emerged, police recover the 64 year old killers cell phone looking for motive for this mass shooting. They find he has no criminal record but has bought 33 weapons since October of 2016. Most were rifles . he monitored feet traffic in the hallway of the hotel where he thought if he would reside to after the shooting. He shot at a crowd of 22,000 people, killing 58and injured. Stephen fired rounds at security guards in the hallway before shooting himself. The rest of the article seems irrelevant to me because the title is “Las Vegas Killer Stephen Paddock Was Planning To Escape After The shooting” the authors of this article goes into talking about Paddocks gun purchases and why there wasn’t a red flag at the store he purchased from. I don’t see how this relates to the topic. Kayla starts her blog off by introducing her article, authors and source. She then goes into summarizing the article she chose. She quoted the article...

Figurative Language Of Bruno Mars

Image
Bruno Mars has always been one of my favorite pop singer/songwriter. Now more than ever but he does have some good oldies. The first song I have chosen is “ Grenade ” on the album   Doo-Wops & Hooligans . Bruno sings, “ Id throw my head on a blade for ya “  The hyperbole here is exaggerating about he things Bruno would do to prove his love to this girl. I especially like this song because I can feel his emotional attachment through his lyrics. The next song I have chosen is “ Versace on the Floor ” on the album  24K Magic exhibits alliteration. Bruno sings,  “ ooh take it off for me, for me, for me now, girl “ This line of lyrics is alliteration alone but he repeats this same lie twice in a row. Alliteration is the repeating of words or phrases and this would be a perfect example. Finally, the last song but my favorite, “t alking to the Moon ” on the album Doo-Wops & Hooligans Bruno sings, “or am I a fool, who sits alone, talk...
